The elegance of a unique territory

All the vineyards of the Castello di Bolgheri estate are part of the Bolgheri DOC. They are located in the immediate surroundings of the town and on both sides of the famed Viale dei Cipressi.

The vines' rows are perpendicular to the sea and benefit from its mitigating effects, such as ventilation during the hot summer days and milder temperatures throughout the winters. The soils are predominantly clayey and sandy, and they are rich in pebbles with a sub alkaline pH level.

Altitude: 70m above sea level

Exposure: south-west

Composition: sand-clay, limestone pH8

Bolgheri biodiversity

In 1996 the traditional grape varieties Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano and Malvasia were substituted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot: the main varieties established in the DOC regulations.

Since the very beginning of the Azienda Agricola Castello di Bolgheri project, the philosophy has always been to focus on the work in the vineyard and to mirror the terroir’s essence in the cellar. This vision has resulted in elegant and complex wines showcasing the unparalleled essence and depth of the Bolgheri region.
